Parents ask: At what age would it be most effective to start learning about emotions?
Answer by John Lambie, Reader in Psychology at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, author of My First Emotions.
You can start using My First Emotions from birth and start talking about emotions from birth. The Activity Book in the set has activities labelled by age, so activities for 0-6 months, 6-12 months, up to the age of 3 years. Different abilities happen at different ages – see the guide, eg looking at emotion faces can be done from 6 months, but engaging your child in talking about emotions will be more from 2-3 years.
