Parents ask: Our son speaks Russian and German. Will he get confused if we start learning English now?
Answer by Alexey Manichenko, founder of Skylark Learning, English teacher, father of 2 bilinguals.
It’s perfectly possible to add English. Small children will sometimes use words from different languages in one sentence. That’s absolutely fine – all bilingual children get over this. The ability to stop themselves from using a word that is easier (or that they think of more readily) from another language requires the skill of self-control – this skill develops separately from language, and can appear at a later age.
